Moving abroad is no small thing.

There are a ton of decisions. The paperwork is real. Everyone talks about “the bureaucracy,” but I didn’t fully understand it until I was knee-deep in it. It’s bittersweet saying goodbye to a familiar life: selling everything you own, helping the kids emotionally prepare, packing only what fits in a few suitcases.

It was a whirlwind.

And honestly? I’d never want to do it again.

But for the life I have now… I absolutely would do it again.

  • Daily fresh bread for 1 euro
  • Weeks without ever stepping into a car—just walking everywhere
  • Conversations with neighbors, strangers, and familiar faces every time I leave the house
  • A community that watches and supports my kids as they grow
  • Random weekend trips to castles and fiestas
  • Concerts and story time in the park
  • And so, so much more.

Relocation Tip:
Once you’re interested in a specific country, start looking into visa options that fit your lifestyle. What’s the duration? What documents are required? Are there income thresholds? The earlier you know, the smoother it will be.

A few months ago, we hit a huge milestone: my 4-year-old said, “Spain is home now. I don’t miss California anymore. I just want to go back for 3 sleeps to see my cousins.”

In just one year, we feel more comfortable, more supported, and more ourselves than we ever imagined.

If you’re dreaming of a fresh start, a slower pace, or a move abroad that fits your real life—I’d love to help you make it a reality.
